The app analyses the images and calculates precise N fertiliser recommendations tailored to crop type, geolocation and growth stage. Selecting one of two hardware options to use with the app opens up a greater variety of crops and growth stages for measurement.
What does YaraIrix do?
YaraIrix's core function is the measurement of chlorophyll content and, thereby, the nitrogen needs of a crop. YaraIrix is a tool that works with two additional hardware options – N-Tester Clip and N-Tester BT – that open up precision farming technology to both large and small-scale farmers for the very first time.
Which version of YaraIrix is right for me?
The basic version is a free smartphone app for analysing winter wheat, oilseed rape, maize and barley during early growth stages (availability of crops varies by crountry). Once the app takes a measurement, it provides an instant N recommendation. It calculates these using algorithms that are based on more than 20 years of field studies.
The first hardware option is the N-Tester Clip. This is an add-on that clips over a smartphone's camera to enable precise N recommendations. The second hardware option is the N-Tester BT, which provides recommendations for the second to fourth dressings of a range of crops. It communicates with the YaraIrix app using Bluetooth and also saves historical data to enable further optimisations.

Download the free app for iOS and Android and then sign in to begin analysing your crops. After taking a photo, you’ll receive an instant N fertiliser recommendation that you can use to plan your first dressing. YaraIrix is suitable for winter wheat, oilseed rape, maize, barley during early their growth stages.
If you’d like to expand to include winter and spring barley, winter rye and winter triticale, plus the aforementioned crops and all from the second to fourth dressings, you should opt for the N-Tester Clip or N-Tester BT.
